Alkalinity….what’s it all about?

Is Alkalinity Important to Your Health?

If you have looked at the various pages on my website   you’ll see I’ve referred to the term alkaline – or pH. If this is a new term for you, you are not alone! Perhaps you or someone you know has a swimming pool. That was my first exposure to this term, although I didn’t understand as a young girl how profound the testing of the water would be later in my life as I’ve educated others on this subject. All I knew was I needed reach down into to the pool and get some water, then the fun step was to put the drops in the tester to see the magic occur!

Now if you were a swimming pool you would want to have a certain alkaline level to be at your best….but you aren’t a pool– you are a human being….so what do you need???

I recently found this picture – It’s an easier way to remember what is good:

The face says it all!   The more alkaline you are, the healthier you are….Each day we make choices which directly or indirectly affect our health – the food we eat, the environment we live in, the stress of our day, the air we breath, the quality of sleep we get — either move us to the left or the right. If you are dealing with a lot of stress or a health issue, you can now see the pH you are experiencing in your body. So what can you do to move you to a more healthy pH?

First, let me set the record straight! I am not suggesting you overhaul everything you eat or drink to make a change. Simple solutions to support you are available. What I’ve found is the more we are eating, drinking, sleeping in and surrounding ourselves and our families (furry children included) with alkaline “tools” the better!!!

Here are some books I’ve read that have helped me learn about the importance of alkalinity:

It’s Your Choice

Your Choice

Last month I was in an all-day personal development workshop. We had just finished an exercise on making a choice between two scenarios. There were 4 sets of questions. I found three of them to be easy to answer and one took extra thought. It became interesting when the others in the workshop shared their responses. Although I didn’t always agree with them; I found new understanding by hearing their perspective.

One of the keys to the segment was that we DO have the choice to decide the direction we take each and every day. It is up to us to choose… or not choose and live with the consequences.

I never realized that this exercise would play out in real life within 15 minutes after we finished. It was time for a lunch break. We were asked to eat with the small groups that we were in. The event was being held at the Conference center connected to the Florida Mall in Orlando. Imagine – Sunday – lunch in the food court. Yes, it was beyond loud – many children crying, screaming, people yelling, music….deafening.

My group had found a table right in the middle. They had gone outside, but had decided to come in because of the bugs. I was in a long line waiting for a great salad at Ugrean. I wanted to go outside and not eat inside the havoc of the mall.

It was a choice – and it was up to me.

I sat down with the group. I couldn’t eat. I was so preoccupied with the noise and what I wanted to do. I was encouraged to eat with the group….but on the other hand, I was reminded of the exercise….it was my choice.

I quietly explained that I was sorry, but needed to go outside. I said I understood if they didn’t want to join me. I stood up and headed for the door.

Did you ever do something and KNOW it was the right decision?? I knew as soon as I stepped outside….Pharrell Williams “Happy” was playing! A coincidence?? I don’t think so. That is the song I listen to in the morning while I read my affirmations to set my day on the right path!!! As the song played, I smiled… and before it was done the group had joined me at the table!

What have you been putting off? Not making a decision IS a decision. It takes courage sometimes to take that first step. Remember, this is NOT a dress rehearsal…this is your life….it’s the only one you’ll live….so, I want to encourage you to make the most of everyday…make those important choices to create the life you want!

 Travel Tips for Good Nutrition

Are you looking forward to an upcoming trip with trepidation? Perhaps you’ve been making time to exercise and eat well and you are seeing results. Now you are headed on a business trip, long days in the airport and a week in hotels with meetings and dinner events. How will you continue to make progress?? Even with a decent continental breakfast in the hotel, you know you’ll end up gaining weight due to the change in diet and less exercise.

Or perhaps you are going to visit friends or family. They don’t have the same eating schedule or diet as you. You have been making good changes in your diet lately and you don’t want to slip backwards.

How about packing your good nutrition with you!

You are probably saying “Only if it’s simple and easy!”

I just returned from a 7 day trip – part pleasure – part business and I DID pack my nutrition with me! It’s called Everyday Organic Weight Management — it’s about providing a healthy way to have organic solutions to keep you energized, focused and full.

Starting at the airport, I was able to make a great breakfast with my Kenzen Vital Balance and had a Paleo Bar on the plane. The Kenzen Detox & Cleanse along with the 4-20 Digestion supported the restaurant meals and the Organic Matcha Ten-4 Green Tea gave me sustained energy during the conference at the end of the week. Including a fresh salad with the Vital Balance shakes gave the balance I needed to keep me on course….

Oh yeah, it’s also affordable too!  Below is a way to save 25% as a customer:

How To Make Corrections When Taken Off Course

Welcome to my blog! I hope you find my insights enlightening and enjoyable; what you’ll notice is I use a lot of metaphors to get my points across.

Are you taken off course?

As I am writing this, the wind is blowing and I’m waiting patiently for internet access to be restored.  It reminds me of being on the road last week with heavy winds. I had a destination, but I was constantly being taken off course. I had to continually make small and sometimes not so small corrections by turning that steering wheel. There were a number of times when I was caught off guard. Did I give up and just pull off the road and say “I can’t go further?!” No, I was going to get home by taking my time, focusing and was preparing for the next gust of wind.

This could be what you experience in your daily life regarding your health. Hourly, daily or weekly shifts or setbacks that keep pushing you off your course. Perhaps your goal to get in better shape this year, get more sleep, start a new form of exercise, join a new group to meet new friends. Maybe you have a goal to improve your financial health by paying off some debt, find a second job or that new career.

dispair life changes disaster stay on course

Same wind blows on us all

Each one of us have “winds” that blow on us each day to take us off course. Perhaps you wake up not feeling great, it was another sleepless night. You were woken by children crying, partners snoring or pets looking for attention. All of these interruptions impacted your night’s rest. However, you most likely had to get up and start your day! It might be the change of the seasons that is affecting you…causing you to make small adjustments in your routine – perhaps you aren’t able to enjoy your morning walks due to the pollen.  Unforeseen issues came up at work and you aren’t able to leave on time to get to the gym for your workout.

Your attitude makes all the difference!

If this is just a “one day affair” – no big deal, right?! But we all know, there might be another storm brewing that will take you off course tomorrow. So, how do you keep that car on the road? For me, it’s all about how to address the “wind” – it’s all in my attitude! Do I react to it or do I respond to it?? Reacting is generally negative, while responding is positive. It’s just like my driving scenario. Gentle adjustments represent responding to what’s happening to me versus letting the wind blow and blow and then make a very sharp turn of the wheel (which doesn’t work too well going 65 mph)!

“Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.” ~ Robert H. Schuller

So here’s a simple idea to get you back on track and make those small inner adjustments.

www = what went well

It’s an easy way to remember to be thankful – by doing so, you’ll literally shift your feelings inside to a better place. Helping you stay on course.

gratitude thankful attitude

Just think of 1 or 2 things; it doesn’t have to be a long list! For example:

“I am so glad that I have a home and bed to sleep in and that my pet is ready to start their day!”

“It’s great to see the trees In bloom, a season of new beginnings, I’m glad I can do some exercises inside instead!”

“Although we didn’t get the problem solved I have a great team to work with. We accomplished a lot today!”

I encourage you to do this when you feel that frustration, anger, annoyance come up; that inner voice starting to say…..”Why can’t I ever….”  Give it a try, what’s the worst thing that can happen? You get further down the road; with perhaps a smile as well!
